Report: Arthur grade-change probe reopened

DALLAS (UPI) -- An investigation of high school grade-changes for former Kansas University forward Darrell Arthur is being reopened, a Dallas television station reported.

WFAA-TV (Channel 8) in Dallas is reporting that Superintendent Dr. Michael Hinojosa plans to have an independent legal team investigate grade-changes for Arthur dating back to 2002, his freshman year at South Oak Cliff high school.

Arthur helped the school win 4-A state championships during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.

WFAA's report said the investigation could affect the school's 2005 basketball state championship and the NCAA title that Arthur helped the Jayhawks win last spring.

If Arthur lacked sufficient credits to graduate from the high school, his eligibility to play at Kansas could be subject to an NCAA investigation, the station said.
