MLB: Washington 8, Atlanta 5 (10 innings)

ATLANTA (UPI) -- Ryan Langerhans' solo homer in the top of the 10th inning Saturday gave the Washington Nationals an 8-5 win over Atlanta.

Washington closer and winning pitcher Joel Hanrahan (6-3) blew a save chance for the third time this season when Kelly Johnson's second hit, a two-run ground-rule double, created a 5-5 tie with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Washington's Elijah Dukes hit two homers among four hits and three RBI. Ryan Zimmerman had two hits, one a third inning solo homer, and two RBI and Willie Harris hit a solo shot in the third.

Christian Guzman had two hits for the Nationals, who had won eight of nine coming into this four-game series, which began Thursday.

Steven Shell earned his second save.

Yunel Escobar hit a fourth-inning solo homer. Two others had one RBI, while Johnson was one of three players with two hits for the Braves, who have dropped six of 10.

The losing pitcher was Mike Gonzalez (0-2).
