MLB: Atlanta 4, Florida 2

ATLANTA (UPI) -- Brian McCann's three-run fifth-inning homer Thursday propelled the Atlanta Braves to a 4-2 victory against the Florida Marlins.

McCann's 22nd homer this season increased Atlanta's lead to 4-0 with one out in the bottom of the inning.

Martin Prado had two hits and one RBI and Chipper Jones added three hits for the Braves, who had lost eight of their previous 10 games.

Winning pitcher Charlie Morton (4-8) yielded two earned runs and four hits in six innings.

Closer Mike Gonzalez recorded his seventh save, striking out the side in the ninth.

Florida's Luis Gonzalez had two hits and one RBI. John Baker had one RBI and two others had one hit each for the Marlins, whose record fell to 4-5 on their current 12-game road trip.

Losing pitcher Anibal Sanchez (2-3) allowed four earned runs and five hits in five innings with four walks and five strikeouts.
