MLB: Minnesota 4, Cleveland 3

MINNEAPOLIS (UPI) -- Glen Perkins gave up three runs in seven innings Sunday and Carlos Gomez knocked in the winning run in Minnesota's 4-3 win over Cleveland.

Gomez's game-winner came on a groundout to Cleveland third baseman Andy Marte in Minnesota's three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.

The play helped the winners complete a three-game sweep.

Alexei Casilla, Nick Punto and Denard Span each added one RBI, while seven Twins had one hit in the 16th victory in their last 18 games.

Perkins (5-2) held the Indians to the three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings.

Closer Joe Nathan, selected to play in the 79th All-Star Game July 15, earned his 25th save this season.

Cleveland scored on Ryan Garko's second-inning single and Jhonny Peralta's two-run homer in the sixth.

Grady Sizemore had a team-leading two hits in the Indians' eighth straight defeat.

Losing pitcher Cliff Lee (11-2) yielded four earned runs on six hits in seven innings.
