ATLANTA (UPI) -- Former world heavyweight boxing champion Evander
Holyfield says he is not broke.
Reports this week said Holyfield is behind in child-support payments
and that his 109-room mansion on 235 acres in Fairburn, Ga. ,was in
foreclosure.
"I'm not broke. I'm just not liquid," the former three-time champion
told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Friday.
"I do feel kind of sad because things have always been positive and
now everybody wants to jump on me like I'm the worst person in the
world and I went out and blew all my money."
Holyfield said "everything is all right with the house now" but did
not elaborate.
The property is worth an estimated $20 million.
The mother of one of Holyfield's 11 children has filed a petition for
contempt in Fayette County (Ga.) Superior Court, alleging that he is
behind on his child-support payments.
