MLB: Baltimore 8, Oakland 4

BALTIMORE (UPI) -- Miguel Tejada, Melvin Mora and Nick Markakis all hit home runs Sunday, powering Baltimore to an 8-4 victory over Oakland.

Markakis' three-run blast came in the bottom of the sixth, giving Baltimore some breathing room after Oakland closed to 5-4 with a three-run fifth.

Markakis scored two runs and three hits, while Brian Roberts added an RBI single, Corey Patterson had two runs and two hits, and Jay Payton had a run and two hits for the Orioles, who have split their last six games.

Winner Daniel Cabrera (4-5) gave up four earned runs on five hits in six innings. Chad Bradford, Jamie Walker and Chris Ray combined for three innings of scoreless relief.

Nick Swisher hit a three-run homer, Dan Johnson had two hits and one RBI, and Adam Melhuse had a run and two hits for the Athletics, who have split their last four.

Loser Joe Blanton yielded eight earned runs on 10 hits in six innings.
