Olympic medal-winning sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested in Florida on Thursday after allegedly driving more than 100 mph.

The 25-year-old track star was taken into custody outside Orlando and booked into the Orange County Jail on a charge of dangerous excessive speeding. She was clocked going 104 mph on SR-429, according to local NBC affiliate WESH.

Richardson was “dangerously tailgating and traveling across lanes of travel to pass other motorists,” an Orange County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told TMZ.

Richardson posted $500 bond and has since been released from jail.

Last summer, the Olympian was arrested after allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, fellow runner Christian Coleman, at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. She was taken into custody on a charge of fourth-degree domestic violence assault, though the case was reportedly cleared after Coleman declined to press charges. She later apologized on social media.

Richardson won a gold medal with the United States in the 4×100-meter relay at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She added a silver in the women’s 100-meter final at the same games.

After initially qualifying for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she was later disqualified after testing positive for THC during a post-race drug test. She admitted to using cannabis and accepted a one-month suspension from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
