ST. LOUIS — The Blues offense has gone silent.

For the second straight game, this time in a 2-0 loss to the Canadiens, the Blues were shut out. They have not scored a goal since the third period of Thursday's win over Vegas, running their scoreless streak to 123:55.

It is the first time the Blues have been shut out in consecutive games since Nov. 17 and 19, 2018.

Zack Bolduc and Florian Xhekaj scored for Montreal.

Jordan Binnington made 18 saves for the Blues.

The Blues pumped 45 shots on Canadiens goaltender Jacob Fowler, but could not sneak one past him.

Facing a two-goal deficit in the third period, Blues coach Jim Montgomery pulled Binnington for the extra attacker with seven minutes left in the third period, and briefly put him back in less than two minutes later.

Goal stands after review

Xhekaj scored at 2:17 of the third period, a goal that was upheld after a video review when the NHL ruled his "stick was at or below the height of the crossbar when he directed the puck into the St. Louis net."

Mike Matheson's initial shot from the point was deflected by Aleksanteri Kaskimaki's stick, fluttered towards the net-front, where Xhekaj got his stick on the puck, which handcuffed Binnington. The puck glanced off Binnington's glove and dropped into the net behind him.

It was Xhekaj's first NHL goal in his ninth career game.

You again?

Bolduc's goal at 8:37 of the second period gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead three seconds after Robert Thomas' holding penalty expired. On a feed from Matheson, Bolduc ripped a one-timer from the bottom of the right circle that beat a sprawling Binnington.

Bolduc, of course, was drafted in the first round by the Blues in 2021, and played 97 games with St. Louis before he was traded to Montreal in the summer of 2025. Bolduc was traded for defenseman Logan Mailloux, who has not played so far this season due to a right hand injury.

The goal was Bolduc's fifth of the season, after he scored 12 last season for the Canadiens.

Alexandre Texier picked up the secondary assist on Bolduc's goal, his first point against the Blues since he and the team decided to terminate his contract last season. Texier signed as a free agent in Montreal, and entered Tuesday with 23 points in 54 games with the Canadiens.

The Canadiens were on the power play due to a Thomas holding penalty drawn by Lane Hutson behind the Montreal net.

Bolduc's goal stunted momentum generated by the Blues early in the second period as St. Louis had the first seven shots of the period, and was one of four consecutive Montreal shots on goal.

Quiet first

Neither team was able to produce much offense in the first period, combining for 17 shots, but few prime scoring chances.

Montreal hit the post early on a Kaiden Guhle shot that caromed off Adam Jiricek and onto the right post. St. Louis hit the post when Jake Neighbours rang the iron, a shot that caused some of the spotlights in Enterprise Center to appear on the ice.
