Kirill Kaprizov's NHL-best 10th goal leads Wild past Blue Jackets 2-1

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Wild needed Kirill Kaprizov to continue his record-breaking goal-scoring pace to outlast the Blue Jackets.
Kaprizov scored his NHL-leading 10th goal to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Wild past Columbus 2-1 on Sunday night at Grand Casino Arena.
Kaprizov is the fastest player in Wild history to reach 10 goals in a season and only the sixth active NHL player to do so in nine games or fewer.
The Wild improved to 6-2-1 going into a five-game road trip that begins Tuesday at Edmonton.
After a 2-on-1 goal for Danila Yurov late in the first period, the Blue Jackets responded a minute later on a screened shot for Adam Fantilli.
Cue Kaprizov.
On the power play, he threaded a top-shelf shot against former teammate Cam Talbot early in the second period to give the Wild a lead they’d protect the rest of the way against a fading Columbus team that played the previous night.
Goalie Jesper Wallstedt made 13 saves, and the Wild’s patchwork defense had one of its cleanest performances since being depleted by injuries.
