Golden Knights blitzed by Mammoth in Game 3, trail series 2-1

SALT LAKE CITY — The Vegas Golden Knights allowed four goals on the first eight shots they faced and lost 4-2 to the Utah Mammoth in Game 3 of their first-round series at Delta Center on Friday.
The Mammoth lead the best-of-7 series 2-1. Game 4 in Salt Lake City on Monday.
Utah, playing in its first home playoff game in franchise history, took a 4-0 lead by 9:48 of the second period. Mammoth winger Lawson Crouse scored twice in the middle frame.
Jack Eichel and Nic Dowd scored, but those were the only answer against Utah goalie Karel Vejmelka, who finished with 29 saves.
Knights goaltender Carter Hart gave up the four goals on 12 shots in his second consecutive loss.
It’s the second year in a row the Knights have fallen behind 2-1 after three games in the first round. They won the next three against the Minnesota Wild last postseason.
