The Vegas Golden Knights scored twice in less than two minutes in the third period to defeat the Utah Mammoth 4-2 in Game 1 of their first-round series at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday.

Game 2 is at T-Mobile on Tuesday.

Captain Mark Stone tied the game at 5:33 with a power-play goal, and center Nic Dowd tipped a point shot from Noah Hanifin 1:47 later for the go-ahead goal.

Stone’s goal was his 37th in the postseason with the Knights, becoming the team’s all-time leader, surpassing Jonathan Marchessault.

The Knights trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes. Utah was 29-2-2 in the regular season when leading after two periods.

Ivan Barbashev scored into an empty net with 1:39 remaining for the final score.

Goaltender Carter Hart finished with 32 saves, as the Knights improved to 8-0-1 under coach John Tortorella.

Colton Sissons scored the tying goal 3:44 into the second period, but Utah center Kevin Stenlund broke the tie 1:23 later after a pass deflected off defenseman Kaedan Korczak’s stick.

Mammoth center Logan Cooley scored Utah’s first ever playoff goal with 11 seconds remaining in the first period.

The Knights won their 27th playoff game since their inception, tied with the Dallas Stars for the second-most since that time.
