Ravens QB Lamar Jackson ruled out vs. Browns after another missed practice

BALTIMORE — Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns on Friday by coach Jesse Minter.
It will mark the second straight game he has missed. The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player has not practiced since suffering an ankle injury late in the second quarter on Oct. 4 in a win over the Tennessee Titans.
“It’s day by day,” Minter said when asked whether Jackson was close to playing this week. “I think it’s just a decision for his best interest.”
Tyler “Snoop” Huntley, who led Baltimore (4-1) to a 30-23 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, will get the start. Huntley is 3-0 as the starter over the past two seasons and 8-9 in his career.
The Ravens are 7-11 in games Jackson has missed since he became the starter in 2019.
Huntley is also coming off one of his best career games.
Against the Falcons, he completed 24 of 32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for another score.
Huntley completed his final 11 passes on back-to-back scoring drives at the end of regulation and in overtime.
Now, he has two full weeks of practice under his belt.
“The plays start hitting your brain faster,” Huntley said. “You just feel more comfortable going through your reads and going through what you see out there.”
It has also helped that Jackson has been a willing communicator during games, giving Huntley insight into what he has seen on certain plays.
Huntley will also be taking snaps from Vega Ioane again after Minter ruled out Cam Jurgens (concussion). The Ravens traded for Jurgens on Oct. 7, but he still hasn’t cleared protocol.
Baltimore will also miss rookie tight end Matt Hibner, who emerged in street clothes with a cast on his left hand and was ruled out, though Minter said it would be a 1-2 week injury and that Hibner is not a candidate for injured reserve. Wide receiver Rashod Bateman (shoulder) was also wearing a red noncontact jersey on Friday.
On the flip side, rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane, who was designated for return from injured reserve this week after fracturing his wrist in Week 1, has a good chance to play Sunday, though Minter said they would make a final determination before the final injury report comes out Friday afternoon.
Left tackle Ronnie Stanley (toe/ankle) and defensive linemen Calais Campbell (rest) and Broderick Washington Jr. (ankle) also missed practice.
Meanwhile, several Browns players returned to practice Friday.
Linebacker Carson Schwesinger (ankle), defensive tackle Mason Graham (knee/ankle), running back Quinshon Judkins (ankle) and defensive end Derek Barnett (ankle) were all on the field. They are all listed as questionable for Sunday. Rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion also cleared concussion protocol and is expected to play.
For Graham, it was also his first practice in two weeks, so it remains to be seen whether he plays.
Defensive tackles Mike Hall (ankle), Kalia Davis (quad) and guard Teven Jenkins (back) were all ruled out after not practicing Friday. Running back Dylan Sampson (knee), who was designated to return from injured reserve this week, was also ruled out, as was quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who continues to recover from a back injury.
