49ers' Nick Bosa, Mike Evans rejoin practice before flight to Australia

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Nick Bosa emerged happy from his first practice in a month. His surgically repaired right knee had passed a key test, complete with a couple of tense moments.
Because of that, Bosa is confident he can play in the 49ers’ season opener next week in Australia against the Los Angeles Rams.
“If after every day of football practice you were this happy, it’d be an easy job,” Bosa said Wednesday.
Life hasn’t been easy, however, since last Sept. 21, when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, just as he did 11 years ago as a high school senior in Florida.
“It was a long road. There’s some stuff I dealt with that patella tendon,” Bosa said. “I kind of ramped it up a little too fast with the football stuff a month ago and they kind of told me to back off. I’ve just been trying to get it as strong and get as confident in myself as I can, to where I can rip the Band-Aid off and go into team stuff today.
“Once you go into team (drills), there’s no reservations, no compensation here, no governor. I felt that today.”
Bosa plans to ice his legs during their overnight flight to Australia. Judging from the media’s 20-minute access window, the 49ers’ marquee defensive end didn’t appear to favor his leg. While commending teammates during drills, Bosa wore a support sleeve on his right knee.
Although Wednesday marked his first full-team work, it was not a padded practice. To gear up for it, though, Bosa said he’s been running “two-a-days” and “trying to expose my knee to a lot of volume and to try and get that tendinitis strengthened.”
Other health updates
Tight end George Kittle also looks primed to make himself available against the 49ers’ long-time NFC West rivals. He has not missed a practice since his Achilles repair was cleared to come off the Physically Unable to Perform list Aug. 23.
Joining them back in practice were wide receiver Mike Evans (groin), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (finger), and cornerback Ephesians Prysock (shoulder).
Restricted to conditioning on a side field were cornerback Renardo Green (hamstring), wide receiver/returner Jacob Cowing (hip), and defensive linemen Romello Height (ankle) and Grayson Halton (ankle).
