Former Lion Terrion Arnold clears waivers, eligible to sign elsewhere

DETROIT — Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold cleared waivers Monday, making him a free agent who is eligible to sign elsewhere.
Arnold, 23, was released by the Lions on June 29 after he was arrested in connection to an alleged armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred in February. Arnold posted a $1 million bond and was released from the Hillsborough County Jail on June 30 after a judge denied the prosecution’s motion to keep him detained without bail.
The prosecution also pushed for Arnold to have a GPS tether, an effort denied by Chief Judge Christopher Sabella after Arnold’s defense argued a tether would interfere with his ability to play football. The prosecution revisited the GPS tether after the Lions released Arnold, but Arnold’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, argued three NFL teams had already contacted Arnold.
Steinberg said Arnold "anticipates that he will have employment with another NFL team within 30 days."
A hearing to determine whether Arnold will have a GPS tether is scheduled for July 10. Steinberg said Arnold's agent will testify about about Arnold's employment opportunities.
