NFL closes investigation into Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice. The verdict: no penalty.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice will not be disciplined by the NFL following a league investigation into allegations raised in a January social media post by a woman identifying herself as his former girlfriend.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the league found that Rice “has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy and the investigation into accusations from his former girlfriend is now closed; there will be no discipline at this time.”

In a statement to The Kansas City Star, the league clarified: “There was insufficient evidence to support a finding that (Rice) violated the personal conduct policy.”

At the time of the social media post, the Chiefs said they were aware of the allegations and in communication with the NFL.

Schefter on Friday also shared a statement from Rice’s attorney, Sean Lindsey: “Mr. Rice wants to thank the NFL for their thorough investigation and looks forward to the start of the 2026-27 NFL season.”

The 25-year-old Rice missed the final three games of the Chiefs’ 2025 season after suffering a concussion. He missed the first six games of the season while serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, a penalty stemming from his involvement in a 2024 multi-car crash.

The Chiefs selected Rice in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft. In 2026 he’s entering the final season of his rookie contract.
