PHOENIX – The Minnesota Vikings will sign wide receiver Jordan Addison to a fifth-year option, interim General Manager Rob Brzezinski told reporters Monday at the NFL’s annual meeting.

It is projected to cost $18 million in the 2027 season, per OverTheCap.com.

Addison, whom the Vikings drafted No. 23 overall in 2023 out of Southern California, has been an explosive playmaker even as the No. 2 receiver for the Vikings behind Justin Jefferson. Brzezinski called the 24-year-old “a really important player ... an impact player.” He is set to make $2.6 million in the 2026 season.

Addison excelled during his rookie season, catching 70 passes for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Addison’s numbers have not reached those peaks since, but he has not been available a full 17 games either of the past two seasons.

In 2024, he missed two games early in the season because of a right ankle injury.

He finished that season just slightly below his rookie numbers with 63 receptions for 875 yards and nine touchdowns.

Last season, Addison finished with only 42 catches for 610 yards and three touchdowns but had multiple 50-plus-yard plays including a 65-yard jet sweep credited as rushing yards for the receiver.

Again, Addison missed time, this time because of a three-game NFL suspension at the start of the season.

Addison was also benched by coach Kevin O’Connell for the first quarter of the Vikings’ Week 5 game against the Cleveland Browns in London.

His league suspension stemmed from a July 2024 drunken driving arrest for which Addison went to court. He pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of wet reckless driving in July 2025.

Addison was also cited by the State Patrol for reckless driving in Minnesota in July 2023 and pleaded guilty to a petty misdemeanor speeding charge.

Addison was again arrested Jan. 12 in Florida, but the charge against him for first-degree misdemeanor trespassing was dropped later in the month.

Retaining Addison comes after the Vikings’ loss of No. 3 receiver Jalen Nailor to the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency.

Nailor’s departure leaves only two members of last year’s active roster in the wide receiver room besides Jefferson and Addison: Tai Felton and Myles Price, both second-year players. The Vikings have three other receivers who spent time on the practice squad returning on reserve/futures contracts.

Another young player could be added in this year’s NFL draft, giving the player two seasons to develop before Addison would hit free agency in March 2028 if he and the Vikings were to not reach a deal on a new contract.

Before Addison, the Vikings’ most recent fifth-year option pickups were Jefferson and left tackle Christian Darrisaw. The Vikings did not pick up an option on center Garrett Bradbury but ended up signing him to a separate extension anyway.

A fifth-year option can only be granted to a player selected in the first round of the NFL draft. This year’s deadline to decide on pickup up the option is May 1.
