PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles are locking in a key piece of their defensive corps for the future, agreeing to terms with Jordan Davis on a three-year extension on Saturday, a league source confirmed to The Inquirer.

According to the NFL Network, the deal is worth $78 million ($26 million per year) with $65 million guaranteed.

Davis, 26, selected by the Eagles as the No. 13 overall pick in the 2022 draft out of Georgia, was headed into the fifth and final year of his rookie deal (with a cap hit $12.9 million). He is now under contract through 2029.

He earned his extension last year as he blossomed into more of an every-down player for the Eagles, playing a single-season career-high 61% of the defensive snaps. Entering 2025, Davis had never played more than half the defensive snaps in a season.

The 6-foot-6, 336-pound defensive tackle continued his dominance against the run, which was his calling card at the collegiate level. Davis notched a career-high 50 run stops in 2025, according to Next Gen Stats, which are tackles in run defense that resulted in a negative play for the offense. His total was the second-most among defensive linemen, trailing only the New York Jets’ Harrison Phillips (51).

Davis is still a work-in-progress as a pass rusher. He registered a 6.2% pressure rate in 2025 per Next Gen Stats. That rate was the second-best of his career, but it ranked in the bottom half among qualified defensive tackles. Still, Davis posted a career-high 4 1/2 sacks last season.

After the 2026 season, the $26 million per year rate that Davis will be paid will fall in line with the deal that New England Patriots defensive tackle Milton Williams signed last offseason (four years, $104 million). Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones leads all interior defensive linemen with $31.8 million annually.

Howie Roseman has now addressed the first extension among a litany of young defensive candidates this offseason and beyond. Other potential extensions that could occur this offseason include defensive linemen Jalen Carter and Moro Ojomo. Roseman can exercise the fifth-year options for Carter and linebacker Nolan Smith Jr. any time before May 1. In the coming years, Roseman will also have to address cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, as well as pass rusher Jalyx Hunt.

Leading up to the NFL Scouting Combine last month, Roseman noted that it is his priority to keep homegrown players such as Davis in the fold long-term.

“Everything that we’re trying to do here is build sustained success,” Roseman said on Feb. 20. “And how do you do that? … You’ve got to draft well, and then hopefully you’re re-signing and extending your own players, and you’re sprinkling on top additions. That’s going to be the priority for us.”
