Broncos QB Bo Nix fractured right ankle in OT win vs. Bills, out for season

DENVER — The Broncos punched a ticket to the AFC championship game and then took a major gut punch.
Quarterback Bo Nix fractured his right ankle on the second-to-last play of overtime and his season is over, head coach Sean Payton said.
Payton did his normal post-game news conference but then came back to address reporters and deliver the news.
Nix threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns in a dramatic, 33-30 win over Buffalo in the divisional round.
Payton said Nix will have surgery in Birmingham, Ala.
Back-up quarterback Jarrett Stidham, Payton said, is “ready.”
“I said this at the beginning of the season, I’ve got a No. 2 that’s capable of starting for a number of teams.
“Watch out. Just watch.”
