MIAMI — The NBA is moving on from Tyler Herro v. Bam Adebayo, with the league issuing a statement Thursday that there will be no disciplinary action regarding last week’s practice-court kerfuffle between former Heat guard Tyler Herro and Heat captain Bam Adebayo:

“After discussing with the players involved and the NBPA, everyone would prefer to move on from this unfortunate circumstance, and no further action will be taken by the league.”

The Heat later confirmed that there will be no team action taken.

Herro and Adebayo got into a confrontation last Friday on a practice court set up at a Las Vegas resort, one utilized by teams participating at the Las Vegas NBA Summer League and also available to NBA players for workout sessions.

Herro and Adebayo came together in the wake of social-media posts from Herro questioning Adebayo’s stature as a Heat leading man, in light of what Herro questioned in those posts as Adebayo’s offensive deficiencies.

Adebayo has not commented on the incident when he reportedly struck Herro before the two were separated.

In the wake of the incident, Herro told ESPN, “Honestly, I’m just trying to move past all of it. I’m focused on Milwaukee and building something special. They obviously just traded the greatest player in their history, so we want to come in and help continue what they’ve been doing.”

Herro was dealt in the trade to his hometown Bucks that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Heat.

Udonis Haslem, a Heat player-development executive and Adebayo’s predecessor as Heat captain, downplayed the incident when he made an appearance at a Heat summer-league game in Las Vegas earlier this week.

“I’ve talked to both of them,” Haslem said. “I don’t have any takeaway on it. I mean, I felt like it was blown out of proportion, felt like it was made bigger than what it was.”

Wayne Ellington, the Erik Spoelstra assistant who is guiding the Heat’s summer roster, also downplayed the severity of the incident.

Haslem said he does not expect fallout from the altercation when the Heat play the Bucks this season. The 2026-27 NBA schedule is expected to be released next month.

“It’s a lot of time that they’ll have to figure things out before the season comes around,” Haslem said.

According to The Athletic, “The incident took place at a gym inside the Resorts World Casino in front of Herro’s AAU team. According to multiple sources who witnessed the incident and were granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter, Adebayo walked onto the courts and Herro said something to him. Adebayo proceeded to approach Herro and, without hesitation, punch him. Herro’s AAU coach confronted Adebayo, and Herro yelled at his former teammate while being escorted out by security personnel. Both players left the scene on their own.”

Of the incident, the Heat said, “We are aware, but not commenting.“

Asked by the South Florida Sun Sentinel about his social-media posts, Herro said hours after the reported confrontation, “You’ve seen it.” Asked about those who were unsure about how those posts should have been translated, Herro added, “I don’t know either. I don’t know either.”
