MINNEAPOLIS — Fans inside Target Center missed out on the chance to see two MVP candidates — Cade Cunningham and Anthony Edwards — go head-to-head, but what they saw was which key attributes have kept the Detroit Pistons afloat without their star player.
On Saturday evening, a collective offensive and defensive effort led the Pistons to a 109-87 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Pistons are now 54-20 overall.
Tobias Harris led the Pistons with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. With a pair of 3-point field goals made in the third quarter, Ron Holland led Detroit's bench production with 13 points. Paul Reed added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. The Pistons' bench unit accounted for 52 points.
The Pistons' defense held the Timberwolves to 31.8% from the field and 20.9% shooting from 3-point range. They held Julius Randle to 2-of-13 shooting for 11 points. Donte DiVincenzo led Minnesota with 17 points.
