NEW YORK — Mayor Zohran Mamdani is urging New Yorkers, including a certain pop superstar and Super Bowl champ rumored to be tying the knot at Madison Square Garden, to stay inside amid the heatwave coming for the city.

Mamdani addressed “all New Yorkers” at a press conference Tuesday, just ahead of the heat dome bringing “extraordinary temperatures” from noon Wednesday until about 9 p.m. Friday.

“Stay inside and stay cool,” he said at a press conference. “And if you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside and you will be staying cool, and I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large.”

Mamdani added that though the city is “proud to be hosting World Cup matches” — just across the Hudson at MetLife in East Rutherford, N.J. — as well as to “celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation,” there is “immense concern, given that too often, the heat is something that is underestimated.”

He also called on New Yorkers to “look out for tourists who may not be used to this heat.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are rumored to be saying “I do” Friday at The Garden, in front of over 1,000 guests.

TMZ — which first reported the Midtown plan — speculates the storied concert venue and home of the New York Knicks will just house a reception-esque celebration for the lovers, both 36, rather than the ceremony itself.

Though Swift and Kelce have remained mum, their supposed plan grew more plausible when a city official confirmed to the Daily News last week that an event company had filed a permit to close the streets around the Garden from Thursday to midday Saturday.

Per ABC News, the phone-free festivities will span two days, starting with a “rehearsal” Thursday for about 100 people.

The U.S. National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning starting noon on July 1, for “dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to around 110 expected.” An extreme heat watch, for which the heat index can hit as high as 105, is in effect from Friday evening through Saturday evening.

“Little overnight relief” is expected, and such temperatures “can be deadly for those without adequate cooling and hydration,” per NWS.
