Do Just One Thing
If you use a blender regularly, it’s important to know how to clean it properly. When making plant-based smoothies, frozen drinks or batters that contain no animal ingredients, you can usually clean the blender by filling it halfway with water, adding a few drops of dishwashing soap, running it on low speed and then rinsing thoroughly. However, if you blend meat, seafood, dairy or eggs, the blender should be completely disassembled for cleaning. This includes separating the blades, connectors and container so each part can be washed thoroughly. Residue from animal products can become an unhealthy breeding ground for bacteria if not properly removed.
