What attracts piranhas?
Published in Daily Trivia
Piranhas are attracted to open wounds and the smell of blood. They are also attracted to frantic splashing, such as that made by an injured animal. Nevertheless, it IS possible to swim in piranha-infested waters without being stripped to the bone by the little flesh-eaters. Brazilian natives (with NO open wounds, we'd have to assume) swim in such water.
