Celebrity Travel: Go Away With Sarah Wayne Callies

By Jae-Ha Kim, Tribune Content Agency on

A. Fine dining. I make street food and casual food at home every night, but I'm not making souffle!

Q. Where is the most romantic destination?

A. I was in Prague in 1997. I've heard it's changed a lot since then, but the Charles Bridge was about as romantic as I could imagine. There was a man playing a glass harp and the whole place seemed like it was just on the other side of the looking glass. I'm almost afraid to go back and see if it's all different now.

Q. Do you speak any foreign languages?

A. I speak conversational French. I studied Hawaiian in high school, and I have a few phrases, but really only about as much as a two-year-old. I'm trying to learn Spanish. I love language. You learn so much about a culture when you learn how they express themselves -- how they fight, how they seduce, how they pray.

Q. What are your five favorite cities?

A. Prague, Lisbon, Wanaka (New Zealand), Savannah (Georgia), Miloli'i (Hawaii).

Q. Where would you like to go that you have never been to before?

A. Croatia and Slovenia.

Q. When you go away, what are some of your must-have items?

A. Comfortable shoes. I'm a walker. I have a pair of Aigle boots that I put about 50 miles on last spring in Europe.

Q. What would be your dream trip?

A. A treehouse tour of the South Pacific.
