For the cake:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon fine salt

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature

2 cups granulated sugar
