BOSTON (UPI) -- Boston police gifted their once wayward mascot, SWAT cat, her own miniature condo at their base in Roxbury.

Officer Jamie Pietroski constructed the "Kitty Condo" for the faithful calico cat, who has lived around the base since 2013.

"Swat Cat moved right in and looks very happy with her new custom kitty accommodations," police said.

Pietroski, a 15-year veteran of the Boston Police Department, "painstakingly" prepared the cat's new home while staying late after work for several nights.

Police said the condo features "a spacious studio interior layout, a large deck for outdoor dining and glass sliding doors offering panoramic city views."

The beloved cat left the department depressed when she disappeared from the area in December 2015 only to make a jubilant return a month later.

At the time, Boston police spokeswoman Rachel McGuire said SWAT cat was welcome at the base "as long as she wants," but the cat's new physical home may signal a more permanent residence.
