For older people at risk, statins still make sense

By Keith Roach, M.D. on

A mnemonic aid for recognizing sepsis has been established:

Slurred speech or confusion;

Extreme shivering or muscle pain, fever;

Passing no urine all day;

Severe breathlessness;

It feels like you're going to die;

Skin mottled or discolored.

People with these symptoms, especially those with risk factors, should immediately seek medical attention and tell their provider they are concerned about sepsis.

Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual letters, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Readers may email questions to or send mail to 628 Virginia Dr., Orlando, FL 32803.
