(UPI) A woman who found a $1 million winning Virginia Lottery ticket in her husband's backpack said he told her he had thought the ticket was a prank.

Rose Ibarra of Avalon, Texas, told Virginia Lottery officials she and her husband were in Virginia while he worked on a construction project.

Ibarra said she was cleaning out her husband's backpack when he found a Hot Millions Multiplier scratch-off ticket that appeared to be a $1 million winner.

She brought the ticket to her husband, who said it had been given to him by a friend and he had put it in his backpack after scratching it off because he thought it was a joke.

The ticket turned out to be no joke, and Ibarra chose a lump sum option of $561,798 before taxes.
