(UPI) A deer was trapped inside a furniture store after crashing through the front window early Thursday morning.

Godwin's Furniture and Mattress store in Saginaw County was forced to close for part of the day after the doe smashed the large glass window at about 7 a.m.

No one was inside the store, which had yet to open, when the deer broke through the window.

The store's normal operating hours run between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursdays and animal control officers had already responded to a call and arrived on the scene by about 8:20 a.m.

Blood was spotted at the scene but it was not immediately clear how badly the deer had been injured or the extent of the damage to the interior of the store.

Officials from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources arrived at the scene and tranquilized the animal.

The store remained closed after the deer was removed, but management expected it to reopen later in the day.
