White to Play and Mate in Two

Pete Tamburro on

Published in Chess Puzzles

This is a very fine two-mover by the Italian composer, A. Mari. One personal preference on our part in problems is when both sides have fairly equal material. Most problems usually have White with overwhelming material. This problem increases the number of possible Black moves and thus makes it quite challenging.

Solution:

1.Kb7 is the key. Every Black reply is mate by a mating move by White. We'll let you figure out those! We have confidence you can find a mate in one!
