This endgame composition has very great practical value as it is no unknown to have a bishop vs. three pawns ending. It is fairly straight forward, but you have to see the whole nine moves it takes.


A study by Horwitz and Kling. 1...Kg4 2.Kf2 Kf4 3.Bd2+ Ke4 4.Ba5 Kd3 5.Bb4 Kc2 6.Ba5 Kd1 7.Bb4 e1Q+ 8.Bxe1 g1Q+ 9.Kxg1 Kxe1 and the pawn queens.
