The great Akiba Rubinstein was once defeated in a mere 15 moves by the several times English champion F.D. Yates. If you were Yates, how would you finish him off?


The game started out with 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. Qe2 b5 6. Bb3 Bc5 7. c3 Qe7 8. O-0 d6 9. Rd1 O-O 10. d4 Bb6 11. Bg5 Nd8? (Better was 11... exd4 12. Bd5 [12. cxd4 Bg4]12... Bd7 13. cxd4 Rae8 14. a3 h6 15. Bxf6 Qxf6 16. Qd3 Ne7 17. Nc3 Ng6=)12. Nh4 Ne6 13. Nf5 Qe8 and now 14. Bxf6 gxf6 15. Bxe6 and Black resigned because of 15… fxe6 16. Qg4+ Qg6 17. Ne7+ winning the queen.
