A challenging mate in two by the composer J.A. Schiffman. It won lst prize in the Bristol Times and Mirror contest in 1927.


Solution:

The composer unfortunately died at a young age three years after the problem was published. What further art he might have produced…It’s an ingenious first move key: 1.Qf3 Rxc4 [1...b1=Q 2.Rc2#; 1...Qxf3+ 2.Re4#; 1...Rh7 2.Nb4#; 1...d1=Q 2.Nb4#]2.Nb4#
