Two youths riding in a driverless vehicle were arrested after the operators alerted authorities to an assault rifle in the vehicle, California police said.

Officers found an illegal “ghost gun” inside the vehicle, along with marijuana and mace spray, San Francisco police said in a Thursday news release.

The company operating the vehicle notified police of the firearm just before 4 a.m. Sept. 3 in the Richmond neighborhood, police said.

Waymo confirmed that it was the company involved, the Los Angeles Times said.

When employees became aware of the firearm, they pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and notified police, Waymo officials told SF Gate.

The boy and girl inside were arrested on suspicion of illegally possessing a firearm, police said in the release. Officers did not release their names because they are juveniles.
