One teen is dead, five others injured after shooting inside a KC residence

One teen is dead, and five others are injured after a shooting in Kansas City Saturday night.
Police were called to the area of the 4900 block of College Avenue just before 10:15 p.m. on a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they found a 16-year-old unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, who later died at the hospital, according to Alayna Gonzalez, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.
Officers found three additional victims at the scene, one adult woman and two teenagers, according to Gonzalez. An additional woman and another teenager were transported privately to nearby hospitals suffering gunshot wounds.
A preliminary investigation indicates there was a gathering at a residence on the block when an altercation broke out inside that escalated to gunfire, according to Gonzalez. There is no person of interest identified and no one is in custody.
If anyone with information are asked to contact homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted through the TIPS hotline.
This marks the 19th homicide this year compared to 22 this time last year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes police shootings.
