WARWICKSHIRE, England (UPI) -- A father in England spotted a large cat with markings similar to a lynx near his home in Warwickshire.

Phillip White, 39, shared video footage to SWNS of the large cat from about 21 miles away before it ran away.

White said the large cat had a black tail and markings resembling those commonly found on a lynx.

"I've seen it before but never had my camera so when it appeared again I just started filming. I saw it on the left and at first I thought it might be a deer," White told The Telegraph. Then it was on the right and it moved quickly across the field. It was skulking around and that's when I took the video.

White said he believes the animal to be a big wild cat, possibly escaped from a zoo, and is concerned for the safety of residents in the area.

"I am worried for the children because they are more vulnerable. There are lots of families. There is actually a children's playground nearby so the thought of that is quite concerning," he said.
