U2 sets single show attendance record
Billboard.com reported Friday the "With or Without You" rockers, who already held the attendance record from a 1987 concert, set the bar higher at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., last Sunday as part of the band's 360 Tour. On Sept. 25, 1987, 86,145 people attended U2's concert at Philadelphia's John F. Kennedy Stadium, which has since been demolished.
Gross earnings from the 1987 and 2009 shows were vastly different with the Philadelphia show taking in $1.5 million and the Rose Bowl performance earning more than $9.9 million.
Billboard.com said U2 also holds third place with 84,754 people attending the band's Sept. 29 show at FedExField in Landover, Md.
