Store says Oprah's mom owes $150K

MILWAUKEE (UPI) -- Valentina Inc., a Brookfield, Wis., clothing boutique, reportedly is suing Oprah Winfrey's mother because it claims she hasn't been paying on her $150,000 bill.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel said Vernita Lee is arguing through her attorney that she doesn't owe the money, which Valentina said -- in a lawsuit filed in Waukesha County Circuit Court -- includes purchases and interest as of July 1.

The store's attorney claims Valentina moved to sue Lee after the celebrity mom stopped making her minimum monthly payments of $2,000 to the store.

The boutique is demanding full payment of the debt, as well as interest, the Journal-Sentinel said.

Lee declined to discuss the situation when contacted by phone, the newspaper said.

She reportedly has until a Sept. 19 hearing to answer the complaint.

It's really pathetic the news media can't find anything better to report on than how much money Oprah's mom owes to some boutique in Wisconsin! We wouldn't even be hearing about it, except that it's Oprah's mother, sooo, seems like somebody wants to make Oprah and/or her relatives look bad -- no wonder she wouldn't talk to reporters about it over the phone, they've hung her out to dry, even if she's later proven innocent -- geez, even famous people have private lives that shouldn't be under public scrutiny all the time --

Oprah's mom owes store

With all the money Oprah has, and all that she gives away, you would think she would pick up the tab for her mother. I know, if it were my mom, I would be honored to pay for her.
