Morgan Freeman recovering from surgery

MEMPHIS (UPI) -- Morgan Freeman's publicist says the actor is walking around after undergoing surgery to repair injuries sustained in a weekend car crash in Mississippi.

The 71-year-old Oscar winner has starred in dozens of films including, "The Dark Knight," "The Bucket List," "Evan Almighty," "Million Dollar Baby," "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."

He and a passenger were pulled from their vehicle by rescue workers who used the jaws of life after the car accident Sunday night.

Freeman, who was airlifted to a Memphis hospital, reportedly sustained a broken arm and elbow, as well as an injured shoulder. His passenger was treated for injuries and was released from a hospital.

"Morgan is doing well after his surgery last night to reconnect nerves and repair damage in his left arm and hand," Freeman's representative, Donna Lee, said in a statement issued to People magazine Tuesday. "The surgery last night lasted 4 1/2 hours. He's visiting with family this morning. As of this morning he's up and walking around and looking forward to his release in a few days."

Thank God

After hearing about your accident, I was remembering you in the film the bucket list, I prayed that God would heal you and that part or role in the movie would not be real in light of your accident, I'm glad to read that you are making progress, prayer are always answered even though I just know you through movies and film, I admire and love you like a family member, my sister and I watched that movie and was moved tremendously by the character you represented, and the special message portrayed to people as a way of being a friend in life to anybody we meet, especially to family. A fan who loves you.
