Holiday Mathis on

Clutter is camouflage. It prevents focus on any particular thing. Whatever you drop into blank space will get all the attention. Both states can be useful, depending on the effect you're going for. If you're trying to stop yourself from ruminating on one thing, introduce distractions. To focus deeply on one thing, eliminate them.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). The right words vibrate through you in the manner of an ultrasonic cleaning. The resonance shakes loose unwanted muck hidden in the intricate recesses of your soul, and you can shake it off and move forward untarnished.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Just because a key doesn't fit a particular lock doesn't mean it doesn't open doors. The way you go about solving a problem is unique. Like a key, you have a complex groove. In the right situation, things will click and you'll be in.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). In certain moments, it really does feel as though you have love for the whole world. You can honestly wish everyone well, even those who have wronged you. You'll note it's easier to do this at a distance.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Self-assuredness is a skill that gets stronger with practice. You learned this long ago and will apply it today: Most people are focused on their own performance, not yours, which frees you to experiment unselfconsciously.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You're not out to get what's good for you at the expense of others. You truly want what's best for all. Because of this, you won't waste energy overthinking things. You'll simply show up and give what you can to make things work.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Mistakes were made. Who made them is beside the point. Everyone can learn from them. Even if you can't do anything about the problem, you'll take the situation in now so you can avoid it later.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Love is like a container you pour yourself into. You can't help but take on the shape of the vessel, and to do anything other than that would be a defiance of natural law. Once things settle, you can assess whether the shape suits you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). People who have spent years building something may fear the idea of starting over. But building from the ground up is the most stable way for a fresh venture, and it's a process made easier by experience.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Nothing gets accomplished without work. Wanting something can make you blind to the amount of work it will take. Experienced folks who know firsthand will give you advice worth listening to.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You don't need constant admiration, but positive feedback is valuable. If you're going without it for long stretches, examine your support group. Acknowledgment is a human need, and in your case it's well deserved, so get it.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Getting the energy right will make everything else fall right in line. Do what it takes to be in a happy mood first and take on the world second. A simple change of attitude can totally transform your scene.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). It takes intelligent analysis to assess the real cost and value of what you want. You'll experience a kind of sticker shock as you notice the price, though it's likely that dollars are not the currency in question.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (April 9). The fun you'll have in new places makes this year a montage of adventure. Also featured: your talent for exceptional communication, the kind that sparks new relationships, heals old wounds and makes your relationships sing with cooperation and trust. More highlights: a new source of income, love letters, a graduation. Sagittarius and Aquarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 2, 10, 5 and 16.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Fresh on the heels of playing Catherine the Great, Elle Fanning will celebrate a different kind of greatness with her supporting role in the highly anticipated Bob Dylan bio-drama. "A Complete Unknown" features Timothee Chalamet as Dylan and Fanning as his love interest in the early '60s, the artist and university student Sylvie Russo. Fanning is a high-energy Aries born when the sun, Mercury, Mars and Saturn were all in the realm of the warrior, and Venus and Jupiter were in artistic Pisces.
