Six Flags Over Georgia sets 'Christmas pickle' world record

(UPI) Six Flags Over Georgia set a new world record by having hundreds of park guests place pickle-shaped ornaments on a Christmas tree on Saturday.

The park distributed the "Christmas pickle" ornaments to the first 500 guests who attended its 4th annual Holiday in the Park event.

Each guest placed the ornaments -- provided by Pier 1 Imports -- onto a tree at the park's entrance to set a world record for "Most Christmas Pickle Ornaments placed onto Christmas Trees."

"Holiday in the Park is bigger and brighter than ever before and tonight, our guests were able to create a new family tradition during the most magical time of the season,"Park President Dale Kaetzel told WGCL. Each guest who participated in our record attempt took home their very own Christmas pickle ornament to place on their tree each year, thanks to Six Flags Holiday in the Park and our partners.

The Christmas pickle is a longstanding tradition which states if a pickle ornament is hidden on a tree, the first person to find it receives a special Christmas gift.

Guests celebrated the record-breaking event with a plush snowball fight. The event was delayed by a week after a snowstorm covered the area in a foot of snow.
