SUNRISE, Fla. — A startling flurry did the Detroit Red Wings in the other day, but not this time.

Goals from Justin Faulk (power play) and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard 45 seconds apart early in the third period Monday sent the Wings to a 5-3 victory over the Florida Panthers.

The Wings allowed three quick goals midway in the third period Saturday, Oct. 31, to St. Louis in a what turned out to be a disappointing and shocking loss.

But this time it was the Wings who astoundingly turned the game around.

Faulk's power-play goal, a one-timer at 2 minutes 8 seconds, gave the Wings a 3-2 lead. Andrew Copp teed up Faulk in the high slot and Faulk fired his third goal of the season past goaltender Jacob Markstrom.

Brandsegg-Nygard scored his third goal, at 2:53. Brandsegg-Nygard got free in front and Lucas Raymond found him alone, Brandsegg-Nygard poking the puck past Markstrom.

Florida's Sam Bennett cut the lead to 4-3, with Markstrom pulled for an extra attacker, at 16:40. But Emmitt Finnie's empty net goal with 2.7 seconds left clinched the Wings' victory.

The Wings (7-5-3) have won six of their last nine games (6-2-1), with a game Tuesday in Tampa, Fla., to conclude a quick, two-game road trip.

Florida's Aaron Ekblad scored a shorthanded goal, tying the game at 2 at 15:25 of the second period. After Markstrom made a good save on one end, the Panthers rushed the puck up ice, and Eklbad put back a rebound off goaltender Daniil Tarasov's skate and into the net for his first goal this season.

Alex DeBrincat gave the Wings a 2-1 lead early in the second period. A Panthers defender fell, creating a 3-on-1 rush for the Wings. Viktor Arvidsson found DeBrincat on the opposite wing, and DeBrincat buried a shot for his seventh goal, at 1:26.

Carter Mazur and Florida's Sam Reinhart traded first-period goals.

For Mazur, it was his first NHL goal in 18 career games. Mazur came off the ice and gathered the puck after Moritz Seider's hard rim around the boards. Mazur skated to near the dot and lifted a shot that beat Markstrom at 5:26.

But Reinhart got the Panthers even late in the first period. The Panthers won a battle along the boards, Carter Verhaeghe got the puck, and found Reinhart who skated into the slot and beat Tarasov for his eighth goal, at 14:19.
