ST. LOUIS — The Central Division struggles are no longer ... central.

After losing four straight games to division opponents, the Blues beat the Jets 2-1 on Tuesday night at Enterprise Center. It was the Blues' first win over a Central Division team since the season opener in Dallas, as St. Louis lost to Colorado, Chicago, Minnesota and Nashville.

Philip Broberg led the Blues with one goal and one assist, and Jimmy Snuggerud scored as well. Joel Hofer made 32 saves for his third win of the season, and his fourth career win against his hometown team.

Cole Perfetti scored for the Jets.

The Blues continue a five-game homestand on Thursday when they host the defending Western Conference champion Golden Knights.

Power play strikes again

The Blues entered Tuesday with a power-play goal in each of the last three games, a streak that appeared in jeopardy when St. Louis opened the night 0 for 4 on the power play.

Broberg's goal at 8:47 of the third period capitalized on Dylan Samberg's tripping penalty (drawn by Otto Stenberg) and gave the Blues a 2-1 edge. After the Blues forced a turnover behind the Jets net, Broberg and Robert Thomas played catch before Broberg uncorked a one-timer from the slot that beat Stuart Skinner.

The Blues power play was 1 for 11 in the first five games. In the last four games, the PP is now 4 for 15.

Before Broberg's blast, the Blues had five shots on goal on the power play, unable to score on three second-period power plays in a 12-minute span.

Broberg was not part of the power play for most of the first seven games of the season as Adam Jiricek and Cam Fowler ran the two units. Broberg, who was used on the power play throughout training camp, took over the No. 1 unit in Nashville on Saturday.

It was Broberg's first multi-point game of the season.

Snuggerud tied for team lead

When Snuggerud scored at 12:30 of the first period, he tied Mason McTavish for the team lead with five goals. The goal came on an offensive-zone possession for the Blues that also included a shot on goal by Philip Broberg and a shot attempt by Snuggerud that was blocked.

Broberg eventually found Dylan Holloway with a pass that cut through the Winnipeg seam, and Holloway found Snuggerud in the slot with a pass that banked off Snuggerud's skate. The primary assist by Holloway extended his point streak to five games.

It was just the third Blues goal this season that the top line of Holloway, Snuggerud and Robert Thomas were on the ice for. The line scored twice against the Blue Jackets on Oct. 10.

Snuggerud's goal highlighted an even first period in which the Jets narrowly outshot the Blues 14-13. Winnipeg opened the game with eight of the first nine shots on goal, and the Blues had six of the last eight shots of the period.

For the seventh time in the first nine games, the Blues scored the first goal of the game. In each of the last four games, St. Louis has had a 1-0 lead. Overall, the Blues entered Tuesday 2-3-1 when scoring first.

When Perfetti scored 32 seconds into the third period to tie the game at 1, it was the seventh time this season that the Blues allowed the second goal of the game.

Perfetti's goal came three seconds after Snuggerud's high-sticking penalty expired, officially going down as an even-strength goal. Pavel Buchnevich turned the puck over on the boards to Gabe Vilardi, and Perfetti collected a loose rebound in the slot to beat Hofer.
