Published in Hockey
The Vegas Golden Knights were let down by their special teams play in a 4-1 loss to the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday.
Nashville scored twice on the power play and added a shorthanded goal in the second period to pull away, despite the Knights controlling play at 5-on-5.
Shea Theodore scored the Knights’ first goal in 180 minutes, 19 seconds, but goaltender Akira Schmid was on the hook for four goals on 20 shots.
The Knights (31-25-14) lost their third straight game and have been outscored 10-1 in that stretch.
The Knights dominated the first period, outshooting the Predators 21-4. But Nashville (32-28-9) scored on its first shot of the game on Steven Stamkos’ wrist shot 40 seconds in.
It was the 11th time the Knights allowed a goal on the first shot they faced.
Nashville goalie Justus Annunen finished with a season-high 38 saves.
The Knights continue their three-game road trip Sunday in Dallas against the Stars at American Airlines Center.
