FORT WORTH, Texas — Lee Hodges was one hole away from having the first-round lead in the PGA Tour’s Charles Schwab Challenge all to himself.

But the American bogeyed his final hole (No. 9) to create a six-way tie atop the leaderboard Thursday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.

Hodges fired a 6-under 64 along with Ryan Gerard, Andrew Putnam, Tom Kim, J.J. Spaun and Matt McCarty.

If you think that’s a logjam, there is a 12-way tie for seventh at 5-under 65 that includes Brian Harman, Keegan Bradley, Billy Horschel and Gary Woodland.

The round included a delay of 2 hours, 4 minutes, before resuming at 6:19 p.m.

The second round is Friday, and the final round is Sunday.
