FOXBORO, Mass. — While Christian Gonzalez was sidelined by a shoulder injury the past two weeks, the Patriots pulled off a major road upset and a blowout win at home.

What will they do when he returns?

The Pats should find out Sunday.

Gonzalez declared himself fit for this weekend’s home game against the Jets during a press conference before Wednesday’s practice, his first in almost three weeks.

“I’m good now,” he said. “I’m ready for Sunday.”

Gonzalez last played in the Patriots’ 35-6 loss at Jacksonville in Week 3, after which he met with reporters in a post-game press conference, which is atypical for injured players. The 24-year-old corner indicated he didn’t sense the severity of his shoulder injury at the time.

“Adrenaline covers a lot of things in this sport, so (at) that time I felt good, and things happen,” Gonzalez said. “So it is what it is, and I’m ready for this week.”

Gonzalez leads the Patriots with five pass breakups and has eight tackles this season. He’s allowed just three catches in man-to-man coverage all year, which has thus far included head-to-head battles with reigning Offensive Player of the Year and Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Steelers’ receiver DK Metcalf, a two-time Pro Bowler.

If Gonzalez plays Sunday against the Jets, he may shadow Pro Bowl receiver Garrett Wilson, whom Gonzalez said Wednesday is good at “everything.” Wilson had seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in the Jets’ win over Cleveland last Sunday. The two have not faced off since 2024, when the longtime AFC East rivals split their season series and Gonzalez shadowed former Jets receiver Davante Adams in the latter matchup. In their first meeting, Wilson beat Gonzalez for a short touchdown in a Week 3 win at home, but finished with just 33 receiving yards.

Opposite Gonzalez, veteran cornerback Carlton Davis missed the start of Wednesday’s practice, his fourth straight absence. Davis is dealing with a neck injury. Behind them, the Pats have cycled through backups Charles Woods, Kindle Vildor and Karon Prunty, though Prunty, a fifth-round rookie, was ruled out for last Sunday’s game with a hurt hamstring.
