All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks is here to stay in Miami.

The Dolphins agreed to a three-year contract extension with Brooks, according to a league source Tuesday morning.

The deal is reportedly worth $51.3 million and $35 million guaranteed over the three new seasons. He was already bound to make $10.8 million in 2026 and is now signed through the 2029 season.

Reaching an agreement with Brooks has new Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan 3 for 3 in extending key veterans he inherited who were eligible for extensions. Sullivan said he views the trio as pillars in his first offseason managing the roster.

Earlier in the offseason, Sullivan struck deals with star running back De’Von Achane (four years for up to $68 million with $32 million guaranteed) and center Aaron Brewer (three years for $52.5 million and $37 million guaranteed).

Brooks was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2025 after he led the NFL with 183 tackles. Beyond his prowess in the middle of the Miami defense as a weakside or “Will” linebacker, he is the heart and soul of the group from a leadership perspective.

As the Dolphins were under a new regime this offseason, several teams across the league reportedly called inquiring about Brooks’ availability in a trade. Miami did, after all, send wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos this offseason.

But Sullivan stayed true to his belief that Brooks was a cornerstone for the franchise to build around in the future.

At times, it appeared uncertain that the Brooks deal would get done. The linebacker said “it could go either way” when he spoke during the team’s voluntary organized team activities in May. With Achane securing his deal first, Brooks, who is represented by the same agency, Roc Nation, said he understood that had to be a priority for “probably our best player on the team.”

Through negotiations, Brooks consistently showed up and practiced in full at both mandatory minicamp and voluntary OTAs this offseason. He was expected to do the same at training camp, when veterans report July 28. Rookies reported Tuesday, a week ahead to get acclimated.

Alongside Brooks in the Dolphins linebacker corps, they also return starting middle linebacker Tyrel Dodson. The team also selected Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, who shares an alma mater with Brooks, in the second round of the draft. As former Red Raiders, the two have also been mentored by Dolphins Hall of Fame linebacker Zach Thomas, another Texas Tech product.

The Dolphins also drafted linebackers with versatility. Texas’ Trey Moore can line up as an edge rusher, and Pittsburgh’s Kyle Louis has a safety background with strong coverage skills. Miami also returned veteran Willie Gay Jr. and signed Ronnie Harrison Jr. in the offseason.

Brooks joined the Dolphins in the 2024 offseason after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. In 2024, his 143 tackles were the most by any Miami defender since Thomas in 2006.

In two seasons with the team, Brooks also has recorded 6 1/2 sacks, three fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and nine pass breakups.
