Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will undergo knee surgery, miss up to two months

MINNEAPOLIS — Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and could miss up to two months.
The news, which was first reported by ESPN, comes just four games into the 2026-27 NBA season, with the Wolves off to a 3-1 start after winning their first three games.
Edwards scored a game-high 47 points in Monday’s 127-125 overtime loss to the Cavaliers despite being listed as questionable earlier in the day because of his right knee.
His absence will be a significant blow to Minnesota’s new-look roster, which will have to find ways to replace its leading scorer.
Team sources expressed confidence that the Wolves have enough depth to continue winning while Edwards recovers.
LaMelo Ball figures to take on a larger role, while Jaden McDaniels, Jonathan Kuminga and other contributors could see increased offensive responsibilities.
The Wolves return to action Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors at Target Center.
