NEW YORK — Knicks star Jalen Brunson is joining another New York institution.

Brunson will make a guest-starring appearance during the upcoming 28th season of “Law & Order: SVU,” which is set to premiere on NBC on Oct. 8. The network revealed Brunson’s casting this week, confirming that he will show up in the fifth episode of the beloved long-running procedural, set to air on Nov. 5.

No other details about Brunson’s new gig, including what character he will be playing, were provided.

SVU star and Knicks superfan Mariska Hargitay — she’s played Olivia Benson on the show since its premiere in 1999 — teased Brunson’s cameo with a post on Instagram. It featured a carousel of photos, the first of which sees Hargitay and Brunson seated side by side and all smiles. In another, Brunson can be seen holding up an Emmy Award, while a third shows him posing with a detective’s badge.

“Two iconic New York Captains walk onto a set…” the post was captioned.

Hargitay and Brunson have long been friends. The “SVU” actress has been a fixture at Knicks games over the years, including Game 4 of the NBA Finals as New York rallied from a 29-point deficit to beat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106. Hargitay and Brunson were spotted hugging on the court after the game.

From there, the Knicks went on to win the championship, their first title since 1973. Following their victory, Brunson said he planned to “try to get on ‘SVU' ” when asked about his plans for the offseason.

“It’s definitely happening,” Hargitay said in response, per Variety. “He’s kind of magnificent that way. He is just open and ready. I don’t think there is much Jalen can’t do.”
