LAS VEGAS — A judge accepted former NBA star Lamar Odom’s no contest plea to DUI Tuesday.

Odom, 46, was arrested on DUI and speeding charges in January by the Nevada Highway Patrol. Police said he drove more than 110 mph on Interstate 15 south of Russell Road and failed multiple sobriety tests while smelling of marijuana.

He entered rehab following his arrest, according to prior news reports.

He did not appear in court, but defense attorney Kevin Coburn said at a hearing that Odom would plead no contest to DUI first offense. The lawyer asked Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure to “stay the adjudication,” meaning that Odom will not immediately be convicted.

Coburn said Odom would also pay a $1,000 fine and complete DUI school and a victim impact panel.

Bonaventure agreed with the terms of Odom’s plea deal. He ordered a suspended sentence of up to 180 days in jail. If Odom completes requirements, the charge could be reduced to reckless driving.

“He’s ordered to stay out of trouble: no new arrests or citations,” said the judge.

Odom played 14 NBA seasons for the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks and was a UNLV basketball recruit in 1997.

He had a previous DUI arrest in 2013, the year his relationship ended with reality star Khloe Kardashian. He also nearly died from a drug overdose at a Nye County brothel in 2015.
